About the course
A satellite is only as useful as the team that operates it. This course follows the full mission life cycle, from concept and launch through routine operations to contingency management. The focus is on military, civil-military and dual-use contexts relevant to European defence.
You learn how ground and space segments depend on each other and how telemetry turns into decisions. In a mission control environment, you practise the procedures that keep a mission safe and effective.
Who should attend
- Personnel assigned to satellite operations or mission control
- Space operations officers and planners
- Engineers and programme staff moving into operational roles
- Civil and commercial operators working with defence customers
What you will learn
- Explain the mission life cycle and the operational dependencies between ground and space segments
- Interpret telemetry and health data to support operational decisions
- Conduct basic mission planning and resource allocation for single satellites and simple constellations
- Apply standard operating procedures for LEOP, commissioning, routine operations and anomaly response
- Integrate mission assurance, cybersecurity and regulatory considerations into operational decisions
- Work effectively in a mission control environment and contribute to coordinated contingency responses
