About the course
Every satellite link, drone datalink and radio net is both a capability and a vulnerability. To protect communications, or to anticipate how an adversary will try to disrupt them, you need to know how they work.
The course covers the principles of radio communications, radiofrequency technologies, propagation, air and space communications, and electromagnetic compatibility. You learn how communication systems operate, how they interact and how they can be protected or disrupted in complex operational environments.
Who should attend
- Communications and signals personnel
- Space operators and planners responsible for satellite communications
- Electronic warfare staff and technical officers
- Maritime, air and land personnel working with radio and datalink systems
What you will learn
- Explain the radiofrequency spectrum and how communication systems use it
- Describe radio equipment, modulation techniques and software-defined radio
- Assess radiowave propagation for terrestrial, airborne, drone and satellite links
- Identify interference and its sources and apply the principles of electromagnetic compatibility
- Analyse how communication systems can be protected or disrupted in contested environments
